SAP AI Joule: Copilot, Grounding, and What SR Soft Will and Will Not Automate
- SAP Joule
- SAP Business AI
- Grounding
- S/4HANA
- CSA

Joule is the generative AI copilot across S/4HANA, SuccessFactors, and BTP — Business AI, Just Ask, grounding, Joule skills. The implementation questions are: what is it allowed to see, what is it allowed to do, and who validates the answer. Grounding on the tenant’s data or it is a parlor trick. Skills that post versus skills that only read. In GxP, Joule stays outside batch release until CSA says otherwise. SR Soft staffs Joule with a BTP/AI lead and, in life science, a CSA lead.
What we will not automate
Unattended posting from a chat. Unattended batch-release language. Unattended tax determination. We will automate status questions, navigation, and draft actions a human still signs. We measure hallucination on OTC status, PTP blocked invoices, and RTR close questions — the processes that matter.
- 01
Inventory questions
What will people actually ask. Not what the keynote asked.
- 02
Grounding
Tenant data. Citations. Refusal when thin.
- 03
Read-only first
A season of read before a skill that posts.
- 04
GxP hold
Release and QP stay human until CSA signs.
- 05
BDC later
The copilot drinks from Datasphere when the warehouse is honest.

Joule readiness we assess
Ground, refuse, then maybe act
Joule that cannot cite the tenant is a parlor trick. Joule that posts without an approval is an audit finding. In GxP it is worse. We inventory the questions people will actually ask — OTC status, blocked invoice, close — and we measure hallucination there. Read-only for a season. Skills that post are a change. Vendor model swaps are a change. We staff a BTP/AI lead and, in life science, a CSA lead. We will not staff “the keynote said chat.”
BDC later — the copilot drinks from Datasphere when the warehouse is honest. Not before.
